NIRVANA ON THE BEACH

Your feet press into soft sand. Sea foam caresses your toes. It’s the edge of South America, but it feels like the edge of the world. Blue upon blue unfurls: the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean and an endless indigo sky. You exhale, stresses dissolving like dew under the hot Brazilian sun. Walking along the ocean’s edge, blues turning to greens: jagged cacti and palm trees fringed like the sleeves of showgirls. You walk across natural wood slats and collapse onto your daybed under a eucalyptus tree. In an instant, serenity turns to inspiration, and the idea you’d been searching for appears. You pick up a pen and excitedly begin to write…

“IT’S ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA TO DO SOMETHING RELAXING PRIOR TO MAKING AN IMPORTANT DECISION IN YOUR LIFE.”

Paulo Coelho

THE HOTEL

Kenoa, a remarkable beachside resort and spa neighboring a nature reserve on Brazil’s Barra de São Miguel beach, is harmoniously integrated into its stunning ecological surroundings while offering the highest level of comfort and sophistication. Inside as much as outdoors, the design language is simple, calming, and one of contrasts. One of the most outstanding architectural features is the reforested Eucalyptus tree trunks that seemingly grow through the hotel, piercing through floors and roof on their way up. A Caudalie-equipped spa and world-class food and beverage offerings round out this phenomenal property.

"OUR AIM IS TO MAKE KENOA SUSTAINABLE, WITHOUT COMPROMISING ON SERVICE, COMFORT, OR LUXURY."

Pedro Marques – Owner of Kenoa

On Brazil's stunning northeast coast in Barra de Sao Miguel, Portuguese-born former Deloitte engineer Pedro Marques found inspiration in his family's summerhouse to develop Kenoa. With no prior hospitality experience, it was a combination of entrepreneurial skills and a solid network of friends and family that have made Kenoa one of the most stunning resorts in all of Brazil. It was also Marques’ vision that guided the property’s sustainable ethos, which includes the use of recycled materials, reclaimed wood, and efficient LED lights. “I am a firm believer in the idea that one can offer top-notch facilities and still be green,” said Marques.
